Doctor Profile

Dr Pixie McKenna

Pixie’s both a private GP in London and a traditional family doctor in her home town of Cork, Ireland.

Having completed diplomas in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, as well as Paediatrics and Dermatology, she qualified as a General Practicioner in 1999. She worked in corporate healthcare in the City for several years, followed by a three year post in a family practice in Notting Hill. She then started her own practice in Ireland where she continues to work on a sessional basis. In January 2009 she relocated her London clinic to Baker St where she now works alongside Dr Christian.

Throughout her GP career, Pixie has held sessional posts in both Dermatology and Sexual Health at three large London hospitals, giving her unrivalled expertise in those fields. Prior to joining the EB team, Pixie worked on BBC3’s Freaky Eaters programme, offering nutritional and health advice to some of the UK’s most fussy eaters. She is a regular contributor to radio, hosting the “air your ailments slot” on Ireland’s Ray Darcy show.

Together with Dr Dawn, Dr Pixie is part of Team GP, a group of media doctors who will be cycling from London to Paris for Action Medical Research, a charity specialising in children’s health. They’ll be raising money for the charity’s Touching Tiny Lives appeal, which aims to reduce life-threatening pregnancy complications and premature birth, and improve care for sick babies. The ride sets out from London on Wednesday 22 July and arrives in Paris four days later on Saturday 24 July, the day before the final stage of the Tour De France finishes along the same streets.
