Anal Fissure
An anal fissure is a small tear of the skin just inside the opening of the anus, which are very common in people of all ages, but are most common in teenagers and young adults. Frequently no cause is found for an anal fissure, but they can occur on other parts of the body (the image above shows one on the tongue). However, it is commonly linked to constipation, where straining on hard stools (a feeling akin to trying to pass a house brick) can tear the skin of the anus. The resulting fissure can cause a sharp, knife-like pain, especially when opening the bowels. It may also bleed a little and stain the toilet paper with bright red blood. But before you declare the toilet a crime scene, it’s worth remembering that an anal fissure, whilst painful and sometimes upsetting, is very rarely serious and will usually heal on its own in a couple of weeks. But if it doesn’t, then get your GP to have a look – they’ll have seen it all before.

I have a anal fisher and the only thing that helped was to wash the area in a gentle way everytime I go toilets and apply Bephantene plus cream. I use my finger to apply the cream around the area and a small syringe (without a neddle of course) to apply a very small amount of cream inside the anal passage, in order not to cause any trauma. The cream reliefs the pain immediatly and treats irritation and inflamation. Apply the cream 3 times a day. For the constipation I advice dried prunes 2 to 3 a day is usually enough, yogurt and water. I'm now regular, so less pressure in my anal passage. I finaly have a normal life after 3 years of suffering. Noone really understands how destructive this can be for a person until you get it. GPs appear to be useless, everyone I saw was unable to help, tried so many things until I went abroad and a doctor recommended this approach. I hope this helps someone, it was a miracle for me, I know what you're going though.
Please help me.. I had a baby 9 months ago and since then I have suffered from an anal fissure. I am in pain everytime I go to the toilet and even after there is a buring sensation and itching. I'm 19 and the amount I bleed when I open my bowels is horrible, it goes all over the floor and I can't stop it. The dr gave me a cream, but applying it is just too painful, and said it would clear up on its own. I have suffered with this for 3 years now. I am in pain every day, it feels like being stabbed with a knife.

hello
I'm 13 and I've had problems with my bowels for as a long as I can remember. I usualy only go to the toilet once a week if I'm lucky, sometimes its every two weeks and I know it isn't healthy. I don't know what to do to be honest, because I have tried finding out the cause and it is unknown. Cheese, cows milk dairy ect, make my constipation at its most severe, yet even when I avoid these I still pass hard, painful stools that I have a job to get out. Please help me as I am at my wits end. When I go to the loo it feels a if someone has taken a knife and if jabbing me in the anus with it, and I get quite nasty pain in my bowel sometimes aswell. It is really affecting my self of steam and its really agrivating my acne, which I have suffered from the age of just 9. sometimes the blood soaks the toilet paper, at other times its just a spot or two and at other times there is none at all but still pain there is always pain. I don't remember the last time passing a stool wasen't hard work apart from the last time I had diaoreah and even when i get that I get a huge hard to pass lump first. I don't know what to do anymore and I am losing hope of a cure. please help me. It's making me ill
Ahhh!! So that's what it was! I was starting to get pretty scared – was really painful and I had a few spots of blood that freaked me out. Then I come on here and it's the first one on the list – no need to worry after all :) thank you!!
Could swimming in the sea help to heal an anal fissure ? Is there any connection between having a uterine prolapse and an anal fissure?
Im 16 yrs old, and for the past few months Ive had an anal fissure! Its very painful when passing a stool and when I wipe myself theres bright red blood, after I stand up its very painful to walk for the next 5-10mins. I'm very worried because ive drank lots of water and soon it did clear up but its back again and its very painful. Its like a sharp,knife-like pain and i think im also constipated,so that doesnt help! Where the skin has ripped there is like a skin-tag so im not if its piles,it isnt lumpy. Please Help Im Confused??!?!?!! Thanks
