Bed Bugs
Bed bugs were a problem that humans thought they had got under control, but recent years have seen a 500% increase in their occurrence. Previously confined to hotels and transport hubs, they are increasingly becoming common in peoples homes, and as they are easily passed from person to person, they can be easily spread. Bed bugs generally emerge at night and draw blood from humans by piercing them with twin tubes. One side anaesthetises the wound and the other side draws blood. The result is a raised, itchy lump on the body, which can take up to a week to appear after the initial bite. Though they will heal of their own accord, anti-histamines are often administered to control the intense itching, whilst hot water can also help alleviate the symptoms. Ultimately, the cause of the infestation must be treated in order to prevent reoccurrence.

Hi,
Every month i get bites all around my body. As soon as they get onto me i swell up alot. They become bright red and don't go down. Sometimes the redness can spread around and leaves me with a itchyness and pain. They will be swollen for several days. I have been to the G.p. about it and they said it might've been down to fleas from my pets, but they have all been deflead. I take piriton and have got some cream for it but its not working at all. Do you know what could be biting me and what could calm the swelling and itchy/painful down?
i get groups of red itchy spots on my bottom usually around the same time as my periods. my doctor says sometimes people just get these but when they heal they leave red marks and my bottom does not look pretty and i am slightly emmbarressed. hope you can help

i have a two 1/2 years old who is itching like crazy as soon as she gets into the bed. she will wake up several time in the night and its really disturbing seeing her like that. The GP said that it was a not so none symptons of hayfever. I have a epaderm emollient and piriton sirup for weeks now but its not working. The rash is worst around her neck, underneath the armpits and were the joints are. its like little red and white dots (sand like texture). could it be bed bugs ?
I recently went to Wales on a school activities week, and have noticed random red bites or lumps on my legs stomach and arms. I've been taking Piriton which has slightly improved the bites, but i'm wondering if there are bed bugs or mites in my bed? Do i havd to replace my matresse?
Thank you

My Mum is 52 years old and has terrible blood red spots all over her face and arms, She picks at them alot as they itch which in turn leaves scarring. They all have a raised grey bit in the centre of each one. They llook like huge Chicken poxs but are not. She has had them for 3 yrs almost now. She take medication daily after suffering strokes, and also for depression. Could these cause this? Would really like a cure as it looks so sore.
