Cystitis

Checking the results of a Cystitis Test

Cystitis is an infection of the bladder and is most common in women, with around one in six getting cystitis each year. Children and men can also get cystitis, though for men the cause could be more serious, such as an underlying bladder or prostate infection, an obstruction or tumour, or an enlarged prostate. Women who have cystitis for the first time should consult their GP for advice, as should men, if they experience a feeling akin to passing white hot molten metal. Mild cystitis will often clear up on its own after 2-4 days, but over-the-counter painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen can be taken to reduce discomfort, and a trusty carton of cranberry juice can often relieve the symptoms of an attack. You should also abstain from sex until the infection has cleared up. We’re only talking a few days, so the nun’s habit and one-way ticket to the monastery isn’t necessary.

I got cystisis not long after starting to have sex. I went back and forth to the doc alomst monthly getting it cleared up with antibiotics i eventually put it down to the pill i was on. i stopped taking it for a week and my cystisis went. Now on microgynon 30 and only get cystisis when ive had to much sex. I gave up going to the doc, i find drinking cranberry does clear it up having 2 or 3 glasses a day when having it helps. At firs i hated the taste of it but found diluting it with water help and now i like it and drink it straight. i would say if it carried on for longer than a week go to the doc.

hi. im 14 & have got cystitis. I went to my GP today about it & he took a urine sample. I also have thrush. he gave me medication & told me to drink plenty of fluids. Its SO uncomfortable & hurts :( i told my mum about it & she was very understanding. im taking a day off school tomorrow because of the pain :( even when i walk it hurts. over the past 2 nights, iv had about 5 hours sleep in total. its destroying my confidence

I sympathise with every single one of you, I have sufferred regularly with Cystitis for 13 years now and I can tell you I tried every single antibiotic my GP gave me but my body became immune to them all. I searched the internet for some help and read up on the causes of it. Basically some of us have more bacteria than others and the nasty one called Ecoli gets into our bladder, it's this that causes the irritation and pain when passing water. I then came across a total natural cure called Waterfall D-Mannose. Taking this before and after sex has stopped a reoccurance of Cystitis for me. I recommend also washing yourself before and after sex as well as making sure you empty your bladder before and after sex.
I can't stress to you all that cranberry juice and antibiotics do not work! This is the cure I promise you!

Hi I am eighteen years old and I know how cystitis feels! I have been suffering from it (and am currently suffereing) for the last 5-6 years. I do not want to scare you as nearly all cysitis problems do not last this long. If your problems do persist ask your doctor (as I did) if you can be referred onto a urologist. This kind of doctor, specialises in this kind of problem and will be able to run the right tests on you and put you on the right medication even if it is just medication that keeps it at bay like mine does. Another tip for you that I use if it gets really bad, before you go to the toilet get a warm (not to hot dont burn your self) jug of water and as you start to go pour the warm water down yourself, this will not completely eliviate the pain but it helps to dilute the acid so that it is not as strong and therefore the pain may actually lessen!

If you are somebody who has been suffering from it for such a long time like I have you may think why me and am I the only person who has to put up with this? Your not and there are people like me who actually know how painful it is!!

I hope that this has been of use to some of you.

i am also a long time sufferer of urine infections, since i was 15, i am now 28 and am at the end of ma tether with it!! The same old story with GP's antibiotics. I was refered to endoscopy a few years back and when they looked with the camera they said that it was inflamed and red like cystitus and it seemed like i had an irritable bladder and when i had symtoms i would have to go on a course of antibiotics for 1-3 months. However i have been back to my GP's many times since with ifections and usually my results come back from micro-biology with no growth. When i test it i usually have leu ++, pro + or trace and a trace of blood. Sometimes the GP's test it and say there is noting in it and i come home and test it again and there is? I use the multistix 8SG as i work on gynaecology and test urine on a regular basis. I never have pain passing urine just pain when i need at the bottom of my abdomin and sometimes higher. Last night for example i was up 6 times for the toilet every time i woke it was the pain that was getting to me. I also wake every morning without fail bursting for the toliet with the same pain as well. Please help i really feel like i cant cope with this anymore i so tired and drained from it all.

i'm 14 and i've had the inections over 4 times. i went to the the docter the first time but, the other times i let it go away by drinking lots of fluids. it is annoying and after the infection i'm always worried about it coming back straight away so i keep drinking fluids.

After having a really strange stomouch ache and needing the toilet quite despratley i went to the toilet. However i realised i had a strange sensation when peeing. This sensation soon turned into a pain after going a few times later that day. I then felt asif i needed the toilet alot more often during the day and when i did manage to pee i had a great pain. i told my mum and she said it was cystitis. I'm been taking the canensten oasis for cystitis and drinking lots of cranberry juict water etc. However i'm finding it very hard to sleep due to needing the toilet and not being able to go. i'm worried now that it wont clear up or that it will keep coming back?

I also reccently lost my virginity around 2monthes ago i also wondered if this had anything to do with it. Can anyone reasure me i'm going to be okay??
please

Ever since starting my job as a flight attendant 4 years ago I have suffered with recurring urine infections which usually have to be treated with antibiotics. I'm begining to think it has something to do with flying maybe as this can cause dehydration?
