Chlamydia
Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the UK and is caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. Sexually active men and women aged under-25 are most at risk of becoming infected. However, as there are often no symptoms of Chlamydia, many people who catch it remain blissfully unaware of the fact they have been infected, so it remains undetected. If left untreated, Chlamydia can spread to other parts of the body and ultimately cause fertility problems for both sexes. Non-specific symptoms of genital chlamydia among women include cystitis, change in vaginal discharge and mild lower abdominal pain. Men normally experience a urethral discharge from the penis. The UK has a national Chlamydia screening programme, which is both free and confidential, so there’s no excuse for not getting yourself checked out. Of course, you can also help yourself, by practicing safe sex and getting tested for Chlamydia every year until you’re 24. You know it makes sense!

why are you all so emmbarrassed? obviously it's bothering you otherwise you wouldn't be looking it up…JUST GO TO THE DOCTOR...Seriously what's the worst that could happen?..trust me ..it doesn't hurt..and once your in the room it's totally private and there proffessional with it too..I've been poked and prodded and examined many times…(after a baby you get past caring..infact..when your giving birth..a room full of people see you poo yourself..lol)And going to a doctor isn't going to be that bad really is it..and you'll get all cleared up and then you'll feel better..that's what doctors are for..Xx
Hi. I'm 34 yrs and mother of 2 (12 and 3). Regular partner for 4 yrs but had some misconducts in the past. Coil(Mirena)fitted in July 2006 and had no periods since pregnancy (2005). Minor regular smelly discharges with spotting and lower abdominal pain for more than 10 months now. GP only does smear test and comes neg. Lots of ovarian cysts. Is there an exam I can ask her to have done? Please, private docs are too expensive and my GP is not helping!
