Chlamydia

Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the UK and is caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. Sexually active men and women aged under-25 are most at risk of becoming infected. However, as there are often no symptoms of Chlamydia, many people who catch it remain blissfully unaware of the fact they have been infected, so it remains undetected. If left untreated, Chlamydia can spread to other parts of the body and ultimately cause fertility problems for both sexes. Non-specific symptoms of genital chlamydia among women include cystitis, change in vaginal discharge and mild lower abdominal pain. Men normally experience a urethral discharge from the penis. The UK has a national Chlamydia screening programme, which is both free and confidential, so there’s no excuse for not getting yourself checked out. Of course, you can also help yourself, by practicing safe sex and getting tested for Chlamydia every year until you’re 24. You know it makes sense!

A free online Chlamydia postal test for people aged under-25 is available in most areas. Go to www.freetest.me. for more details.

I have just been diagnosed with chlymdia, I've been with my boyfriend for two years, he is my first partner sexually I am his 15, we where both tested in September and both clean of everything, I have also been tested when receiving the pill and been clear, its a very awkward situation as both I and my boyfriend are adamnt that we have not done anything with anyone else sexually, we both stay at friends houses often, all of whom have had chlamydia before is it possible we may have caught it from their dirty sheets tht maybe have not been washed after sex? It is atleast once a week tht we come into contact with somebody elses environment. I just don't know where else it could have come from!! ?? :(

the doctors from the show dont reply... you need to talk to your doctor.. or go to a local GUM clinic (look on NHS choices for your local one) it's completely anonymous.. you can even give a fake name... discharge can be normal, however it can be something far more serious such as an STI which you could pass on to a partner. Get checked out, and then if you have an infection you can get treatment.. how do you expect to get the problem sorted otherwise?

i've been getting smelly vaginal discharge and it hurts me and my partner when we have sex its really embarrasing and i have no idea what it could be please help

if you're both having pain, you both need to get checked out by your GPs or go to a local GUM clinic, look on NHS choices for your local place

You need to see your GP - it wont just go away.. it's likely to just be an infection where antibiotics or a cream would sort out the problem. It's highly unlikely to be something more sinister, however if it was, it's important to get it treated sooner rather than later, as medical problems that get ignored, only tend to get worse.

i have just found out i have clomidea and think i maght of had it for about a year and im so worried that i wiont be able to have children is there any way i can be tested to no the damage it has cused.how long after having sex can you take a test and will it show up if it was only a week ago
