Conditions
Cystitis
Cystitis is an infection of the bladder and is most common in women, with around one in six getting cystitis each year. Children and men can also get cystitis, though for men the cause could be more serious, such as an underlying bladder or prostate infection, an obstruction or tumour, or an enlarged prostate. Women who have cystitis for the first time should consult their GP for advice, as should men, if they experience a feeling akin to passing white hot molten metal. Mild cystitis will often clear up on its own after 2-4 days, but over-the-counter painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen can be taken to reduce discomfort, and a trusty carton of cranberry juice can often relieve the symptoms of an attack. You should also abstain from sex until the infection has cleared up. We’re only talking a few days, so the nun’s habit and one-way ticket to the monastery isn’t necessary.

I'm 19 and this is the closest diagnosis I've had to my problem. Since childhood I've had UTI's where I would sometimes bleed and it would be very painful though I passed little urine, doctors back then said it was probably because I held myself (not going to lie, I did :p). But now for the past couple of years I've still had issues, a good deal of vaginal discharge usually without smell sometimes with and with different consistencies and every so often I'd have a UTI. I went to my doctor about the discharge but she said it was probably how my body worked, she gave me a yeast infection pill and advice of what I could do to help it naturally, but neither worked. The UTI's wouldn't be as painful, but as of late, frequent. I find it very hard to hold myself sometimes and when I do just make it it's uncomfortable, and again, dribbles. I am taking AZO, a cranberry supplement with a glass of water everyday, it seemed to work at first but the urgency is returning. I am sexually active and practice safe sex but I've had this before I became so, though it's probably not helping. I have dealt with this issue for long enough and refuse to believe that it's 'normal'. Any ideas?
ive got cystitis for the third time now and it only seems to affect me after sex, should i get tested for chlamydia?
ive got cystitus symptoms again for the third time now and i only seem to get it after sex, does anyone think i should get tested for chlamydia?
Hey, i have had cystitis before, and it is caused by sex, It is a water infection and it wont be chlamydia. There are loads of treatments for it, and if they dont work go to your GP and they will give you some tablets to take, They really worked for me. :)
hi i get cystitis pretty much every two weeks for the past two years and i seem to find myself just puttin up with it because the doctors just arn't interested, i have heard that if ur gettin cystitis often it can ruin ur chances of gettin pregnant does anyone no if this is true? i have had the antibiotics loads of times but i have also been told u arn't meant to have them more then 3 times as your body becomes immune to them is this true?
hi everyone, iv have cystitis for nearly 2 years i hvae been in and out of the doctors on antibiotics for ages, nothing seemed to help. so i asked to be refered to the hosp to investigate. i was then sent for an ultra scan then had and appointment for a endoscopy to have a camera examination. whilst i was there they gave me results, they said i have a scasrred kidney. which ment if u dnt treat cystitis properly it will lead to kidney failure. threy also said they found a cyst which showed up on the scan which may be causing it. so it just proves antibiotics isnt always the treatment. if you keep have reccuring cystitis then ask to be refferd to a hosp to investigate. its realy worth it.
Do some internet research on painful bladder syndrome and intersitial cystitis to see if the symptoms sound familiar. I've suffered for more than 6 years now - have been through lots of unpleasant hospital tests in the last 4 years and learnt more in a few hours on the internet than I ever got from the 'experts'. My symptoms are worse than ever and I feel I've been 'cast adrift' to just get on with it. This affects every aspect of a person's life and makes it a complete misery - it might not be life threatning but it is life altering and more should be done to help the sufferers!

My sister inlaw has rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. She has had a bladder infection for over two years now and the doctors say there is nothing more they can do. It is so bad she goes to the toilet between ten to fifteen times a night. She is desperate for someone to help her. Is there anyone out there that can help.
i have had bouts of urinating more frequently, at the beginning with pain, but just frequency now - both times urine dip test showed white blood cells - but on further examination of the sample - i get told that there is no bacteria present. So am unsure if i even have cystitis - but am given antibiotics anyway (i dont no why if no bacteria was in sample). also had a swab taken - again - nothing came up. its put me right off sex as its a tad uncomfortable. im getting sick of it now.
I went to the doctors several times after having cystitis once a month for half a year even though i did all i could to prevent it. i take teh contraceptive pill and also use comdoms but my doctor told me that i don't need to use condoms and they may be the cause of my cystitis. he said that i may have a slight allergy to latex and that this would flare up my uretha which would then be prone to cystitis...so as long as i am on the pill and do nto stray from my partner of 2 years then i don't need to use comdoms :) try it! i haven't yet...
