Conditions
Cystocele
A cystocele is a fallen bladder, which occurs when the wall between a woman’s bladder and her vagina is torn by childbirth, resulting in the bladder bulging or dropping towards the vagina. Cases range from mild to severe and treatment usually depends on the severity of the condition. A mild cystocele, which may be noticed by a physician or nurse, but hasn’t bothered the patient, doesn’t necessarily require treatment. However, in cases of moderate and severe prolapse, symptoms can be bothersome and can lead to women experiencing difficulties emptying their bladder, as well as feeling of pressure in the pelvis and vagina, especially when bearing down. This can lead to repeated bladder infections, urinary incontinence and pain during sex. Prevention is often better than cure, and the chances of a prolapse occurring can be reduced by doing regular pelvic floor exercises, treating and preventing constipation, avoiding too much weight gain, and ensuring that the man in your life does all the heavy lifting!

How would a moderate prolapse of the bladder feel to me. I was asked if mine bothers me but I don't really know what is normal anymore. I am about to have a tvt but was offered a colposuspension if it bothered me and I don't know what to say.
Hi, i am a 52yr old female, i had a complete hysterectomy in Nov 1990. I have a recurring problem, i have a weak bladder since i had my children and sometimes wet my self before i can reach a toilet, and just recently ive felt "something" in my vagina. It almost feels like im about to lay an egg, but, when i empty my bladder it disappears! Please any advice would be most welcome. Thank you....
There is this wonderful site that has women all going through the same thing. You can glean a lot of information about prolapse and all your options, prolapsehealth.com There are women aged 20-80 on the site all dealing a prolapse at different degrees. You will find a lot of information and ask questions that will get answered.

I gave birth to my second baby 5months ago. Both my babies were born natural and weighed in the region of 9lbs. After giving birth to my 2nd baby i noticed that my virgina felt different, it was more painful during sex even after the recommended 6weeks. I then went to see my gp who said i had a very lax bladder after birth and told me to do some kegal excerices but nothing is changing... What do it I do? it currently feels like i have a tappon on that isn;t sitting right, only i don't its my bladder!!!!!
Following your show on Monday I checked myself and noted some changes. I went to see my GP today who also noted a thickening of my vaginal wall. Ive a complex history with 4 children, 2 vaginal deliveries, left ovary removed due to benign tumour, 2 colposcopy and loop diathermy due to abnormal smears and over the last 12 months repeated bouts of thrush. Ive been referred for a scan but have to wait just over 3 weeks and I'm really worried. Any advice?
hi iam 65 had a hyterectomy in 2006 before that had anet fixed before that now i think my bladder keeps coming out or when i had hysterectomy did they remove net but it is very uncomfortable at times weeing and pooing had it about 2 years now doi need to get it seen to thank you jane
Hi go to your GP and I am sure they will refer you to Gynocologist as it does sound like your bladder is coming out/prolapsed. It looks like a baby's head! I am 53 and had 3 different size rings put in place to hold it back temporaily and I am having a prolapse bladder repair at end of month and possibly a hysterectomy. I have worked in a pub for 12 years, lifting heavy crates of glasses and bottles and food plates and this has probably contributed to my problem as well as childbirth, constipation and age.
What is a tvt? I am recovering from a prolaspsed bladder repair (cytocele); and, since I'm having so many problems and am not able to urinate at all now on my own, I wonder if I can have this surgery reverse. A woman above talked about having a tvt and posterior and her doctor suggested having something undone. I'm wondering if it is a cystocele. I'm wondering if this doesnt' get better if I can do that.
can you have a bowel and bladder prolapse at the same time
sorry i dont know but thats what i think i have feel so uncomfortable
Absolutely, I had both and had a hysterectomy and bowel and bladder prolapse repair but now have to go back as the bowel has prolapsed again! Third time lucky I'm hoping as had it done prior to hysterectomy too! Good luch with yours
yes, it is quite common, and sometimes women have a uterine, bladder and bowel prolapse at the same time. fortunately i only have a cystocele, (bladder prolapse) which can only be noticed when i bear down during an examination, and it has improved and is less uncomfortable than before now i have done proper regular pelvic floor exercises. i was fit and healthy before it happened, and started jogging 2 weeks after my 2nd baby was born ,as the doctor said it was fine if i wanted to, and after the 4th jog, i got the uncomfortable, aching feeling and relaised something bad had happened, so please new mums, first thing befroe you worry about losing weight- get your pelvic floor muscles back in shape, and then your core muscles with some yoga and pilates ,BEFORE doing any further serious exercise, to avoid what happened to me!
