Conditions

Dermatitis

Dermatitis

This is not a condition in itself, but rather a catch all term used to describe a number of conditions that cause inflammation of the skin. Conditions which dermatitis can cover include eczema, psoriasis and allergic reactions, as well as a number of very rare skin complaints. It is normally an initial diagnosis that is subsequently clarified after a visit to a dermatologist.

If your child is suffering from eczema, psoriasis or an allergic reaction, then read our condition guides especially for parents on the Embarrassing Bodies: Kids website.

I have had a problem with scaly type cracks as if the skin is delaminating on my feet they also seem very dry. Lamisil cream helped a bit but it has come back. It is really hard to explain but when you are swimming you feel as if the water gets in and its is creepy and can get sore.

I get this when I get sunburn on my ears. Could it have been sunburn? It's easy to forget to put cream on the tops of your ears and the sun shines right down on them!

- red sore - antiseptic cream helps pain - cream does not make it go away, but rather subdues it - unrelatedly at the same time antifungal tablets did not work (nor OTC lamisil or mycil, canesten), but did not cause - With use of antiseptic, v itchy - without, sore, weeping, cracks, rather more sore and not itchy - anogenital region - afraid of using hydrocortisone cream in case it is infection - tried emolients - don't seem to work, rather seem to make the skin more prone to being cut in the sore inflamed area - sweat/ sweaty nights seem to help (don't know if that is of significance)

Hi, I'm am in a hell of a lot of pain, on the join between my vagina and my legs there is patches of skin which are incredibly itchy, if I itch them they then begin to weep. The skin does peel and it does heal over, but it is incredibly painful and I find myself not able to move my legs. I have used thrush creams before and I don't think it is an STI, and it only occurs sometimes, its not constantly like this.

Hi,my cousin is 27 and two years ago developed a skin condition on her fingers and back of the hands. It starts with pink spots with white centre, becoming red purple after few days.Sometimes are itchy and sometimes the hands swell up so much she can't move her fingers, become purple and gets pins and needles. She had lots of tests(she also has a bad acnea on her face only)and was put on antibiotics, cortizon and vitamins(A and D2)that sometimes work sometimes don't.she also had some cream that helped with the dryness. Last summer they got better but as the winter came started up again and the same treatment doesn't work that well any more. The acnea got a little better but the hands got worse, they seem to take turns. Can you please help as she doesn't know what else to try.Thank you.x
