Conditions
Enlarged Labia
Many women are born with larger or more noticeably asymmetric labia, just like other parts of the body come in different shapes and sizes. These lips of skin surround the vulval opening, and conditions such as Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, stretching in childbirth or irritation can cause enlargement. For some it makes no difference to their lives, but for others it undermines confidence, especially when it comes to relations in the bedroom. Labiaplasty is the surgical procedure used to reduce the inner labia, but this is seen as cosmetic and will not usually be available on the NHS. If you do have any concerns, it might be worthwhile to go and seek advice from your doctor.

I'm 14 and i have the same problem, mine are bigger thanthe pictures, you get like a lump in your pants and its soo embarrasing. I was watching the show with my friend and a girl came on with them - my mate was like 'urgh thats disgusting its looks sick' and i felt soo bad. i'm so scared guys'll think they look nasty and won't lik me for it :S how much is surgery??
hi im 14 too and same all my mates are like eww! :/ have you told your mum ? i havent i cant tell anyone. i think we can calm of nhs because we are soo young but u need adult there.
I am now 21 and since i had my daughter in 2006 i have had the same problem. My skin of the labia area is larger than it used to be. It makes me feel really embarresd not just during sexual intercourse but also just being in things like bikinis. I would like to know if it would be possible for me to get help from the NHS. I would definately opt for surgery, it would make me feel much more confidence in myself.
well im 13 and have this its so embarrasing and just dont know what to do and im not telling my mum im too embarassed...........
Hi im 17, i have an enlarged labia and with any bofriends i had i would always stop them from going down there and when having sex the lights always had to be off, i dont have that problem any more my current boyfriend doesn't see any thing wrong with it he knows its normal in some girls, Now i feel much better about my self. If a boy doesnt like what he sees then he obviously only wanted youu for 1 thing!!Dont be worried about it girls :)

im 14, and i was first at my doctors about this at 12, she said i need to wait til im 18, and i came back this year and shes transferring me to a gaenocologist, sorry for the spelling! i'm researching all the time but i really cant find the answers, can somebody pleaseeee tell me what age limit is? can i have it done at 15? also, i broke down crying to my doctor, and its affecting my life severly, so is there a possible way ill get it on the NHS? thank you for the help , also i would just like to say, i was in your possitions once, the young girls whoa re too afraid to tell your mums, you can go to the doctors by yourself from 14 onwards alone if you need help your doctor will be glad to help, id recommend a female if your embarrased, and from past experience they're much more understand (no offence) haha. x
my problems are the exact same to some of yous.. i am 16 and not sexually active because of this. Its so embarressing and im scared incase this boy i like tells people and it get about and stuff :-(. We really shouldnt worry about it because well as far as i can see lots of us have the exact same issue, and it should be a problem if so many of us have it :/
i have the same problem too and i totally agree with you. i am also 17 and have been with my boyfriend for two years now. when we first met i would i always had to have the light off during sex. now i have become more comfortable around him we have the light on but ever since then we're not so sexually active anymore and it really gets me down because i dont know weather its me or other things. something should deffinately be done to help girls in our situation.
I'm 17 and have exactly the same problem, mine are much larger than the girls in the picture! I get really self conscious about them especially getting changed and wearing bikini's. I have a boyfriend who I've been with for almost a year now and we are sexually active, but he doesn't know about it as I've been too scared to tell him or my mum. Surgery in the future would be great, but I think that something needs to be available on the NHS as there are so many young girls and other women who cant afford to have this and it is obviously affecting their lives! I think something really needs to be done about this.
i have this problem.. i'm 18 and i've had this since i was younger. i went to the doctors to try and get something done and my only option was to pay £4000 to get this sorted! it makes me very unhappy and with boyfriends i am very cautious and also keep my underwear on.. my boyfriend hates this but does understand. I really thought i was weird and i hate it.. i especially know what you girls say about bikinis! its a big issue! would apply for the show.. not getting it out for the whole world to see though :( i hate it myself!
