Conditions

Enlarged Prostate

An enlarged prostate (known as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH) is one of three main conditions that can affect the prostate. Similar to prostate cancer, prostate enlargement usually only affects men over the age of 50, and about half men over this age will have some sort of prostate enlargement. It’s caused by an overgrowth of prostate cells and symptoms include: difficulty passing urine because of weak and slow flow; passing urine frequently (more than 10 times a day); frequently waking up in the night to urinate (nocturia); and incomplete emptying of the bladder. Treatment for an enlarged prostate depends on whether your symptoms are causing you problems, or if there are complications. For mild symptoms, it’s possible to make certain lifestyle changes, such as: avoiding alcoholic or caffeine-based drinks; avoiding drinking late at night; and increasing the amount of fruit and fibre you eat to avoid constipation, which can put pressure on your bladder. Other treatment options can include medication or a prostatectomy (a surgical procedure to remove part of, or the whole, prostate).

Hi I am 47 and About 3 weeks ago i had constapation and took some Andrews Liver Salts to help the symptoms. The constipationt caused a pile of which i have had problems with on and off over the past 5 years.
I have used hemroid spray and it seems to be working.
But recently over the past week when I go to urinate it stings I am urinating often and sometimes during the night. I have reasearched some info and some symtoms lead me to a possible infection or prostrate concerns. Could you advise.

i have just found out that i have a urinary tract infection and after several days of meds i still having white flecks, what looks like skin in the urine, is this normal? It is painfull

Hi, I'm 15Years Old [No Name] and i am leaking a fluid (not sure what fluid) a lot, and it has only been since september-ish i've been having this – i've been to my local doctor about it, and i've done three urine samples – the first two comfirmed i had a Urine Infection, however, the last did not – my doctor has now referred me to a Ureaologist – i fear that it has nothing to with my urine, and i've researched, and i fear i may have an enlarged prostate – and im only young – Help?

I put up with prostrate urinary problems for years. Frequent trips to bathroom standing waiting to go and nothing. I got over my fear and saw the urologist, had the turp surgery ( it was a snap) and now everything is normal. Don't fear and put up with the discomfort. SEE THE EXPERTS
