Flatulence
We fart when we’re awake, we fart when we’re asleep, and we even fart when we’re dead. So, if you’ve been told that the Queen doesn’t fart and that women’s gusty contributions are accompanied by angelic harp music (and smell like flowers), don’t believe a word of it! On average, most people pass gas 15 times a day, but anything up to 40 times in one day is considered normal. The food we eat is digested and absorbed in the small intestine. And wind is produced by the digestive system as enzymes and bacteria break down carbohydrates and proteins in your food. Of course, certain foods can provide a little extra firepower, such as beans, cauliflower, cabbage, kidney beans and artichokes. In such instances, it might be wise to distance yourself from your nearest and dearest.

hello I'm a 19 year old girl. I have really weird looking breasts. The only way I can describe them is cucumbers! I can't dress infront of people not even my own mom, the are so horrible and empty with large black skin surrounding the nipples. What can be done for me?
I am 47 years of age and have been farting really loudly for a number of years (10). It comes out all day. I have to try to keep it in during the day until I can find a safe place to fart. Unfortunately when I fart it smells so badly that the place just smells. Even when I get up in the morning my room smells of fart. It is so embarassing. I cannot have a partner because to this. My symptoms are getting worse and worse. I cannot call friends to stay over either. I know I cannot eat fried food or very spicy foods as the farting and the smell gets worse. Please help as the situation is just dire. It has taken over my life. I was told last year that I have IBS.
I've been having the same similar promblem for many years and life have been very miserable uptill now i'm still suffering from bloating. I've been to the GP, do some test e.g, breath test which was normal and l've try some tablets but all was in vain. please help me.
when im in social situations especially when its quiet, i feel like i need to fart so i move around to try and stop it and im so scared that one day i will actually let rip because ive come so close. its so embarassing so i try to avoid things that make me nervous because i know that will happen and its ruining my life has anyone got any ideas please?
I've been getting offensive flatulence quite badly for a few years now and am trying everything to try to even reduce it! I've recently tried keeping off of milk or using 'lactose-free' milk. This has worked to some extent, so is worth a try. I think I should really have a diet overhaul to see what else could be contributing! I just feel bad for my fiancee, but I guess he loves me whatever, seeing as he proposed!!!
I've suffered from IBS for over 20 years. Although I still have problems, the wind part has been helped by avoiding foods with the sugar subsitute sobitol; drinking peppermint tea; having Actimel; and more recently taking a probiotic powder I get from Ferring called VSL3. I hope this helps someone!
ive got this problem as i always fart everywere i go and once i did it at my great aunts mourning i was so embarressed i need help i get bullied all the time.
My husband farts all the time, there soooo lound to, i'm sure if we had neigbours they would hear them to, thankfully were detached. Why do men fart so loud and long, sometimes its really disgusting.
I fart all the time, 24/7 and it's incredibly embarrassing. When I laugh, quite often let a big one rip. It is also bad when I have sexual intercourse and my girlfriend doesn't like it.
What can I do, because my pants often get wet with a bit of poo in? It's so embarrassing, please help.
I empathise with everyone on here – I have a problem with nocturnal farting! When I lived on my own I used to wake myself up and thought I'd dreamt that I'd farted but now I live with my boyfriend I know for sure I do. He make (harmless) jokes and occasional reference to it but I'm mortified and am now searching the web to see if there's something I can do to stop it. What's worse is he's a light sleeper and I wake him up (sometimes 4 or 5 times a night) with it! As I'm writing this it's quite funny and he's certainly never been cruel about it but I can't help think he must find it very unattractive and my confidence is slipping to the point I dread bedtime – this can't be right. I'd love to hear of anyone's successful hints and tips and I definitely look at the fructose thing as suggested by someone – I'm at the stage I'll try absolutely anything.
