Flatulence

Doctor examining a patient's bloated stomach with suspected Flatulence

We fart when we’re awake, we fart when we’re asleep, and we even fart when we’re dead. So, if you’ve been told that the Queen doesn’t fart and that women’s gusty contributions are accompanied by angelic harp music (and smell like flowers), don’t believe a word of it! On average, most people pass gas 15 times a day, but anything up to 40 times in one day is considered normal. The food we eat is digested and absorbed in the small intestine. And wind is produced by the digestive system as enzymes and bacteria break down carbohydrates and proteins in your food. Of course, certain foods can provide a little extra firepower, such as beans, cauliflower, cabbage, kidney beans and artichokes. In such instances, it might be wise to distance yourself from your nearest and dearest.

Same here but the smell is horrendous w horrible diaherra

I fart without noticing and it's really embarrassing. I used to have an eating disorder and only ate fruit for a while. It's been 3 years and my situation hasn't changed. I was wondering if any of my nerves have been damaged because I also went through a nervous breakdown. I used to be able to control my farts before this but it feels as though I just can't mechanically do it now. I'm not incontinent in other ways (at least I don't think so).

I have recently stopped drinking alcohol and caffeine drinks. Since doing so I have been experiencing wind a lot more than usual. Is this a normal thing to happen??

The smell you are giving off described as "the smelly person in the office" isn't because of gas. It is most likely coming from your tonsils. When you breathe, talk, or swallow, your tonsils "flex". If you have tonsil "stones" then whenever you do one of these things, you are going to give off a smell. Tonsil stones smell like fart, poop, dog, etc. Do you drink milk or consume a lot of dairy? Cheese, milk, ice cream, sour cream, or anything else that contains dairy will make these "stones" produce like crazy. These stones are calcified dairy. Your body can't digest dairy properly (most adults can't digest dairy properly) so these excess dairy products stick around in your mouth and lymph system rotting away until they are released from your tonsils. It's pretty gross huh? Eliminate all dairy and sweets for a few months, and I am willing to bet your smell will disappear. Good luck!

I do the exact same thing... I would like 2 know what the answer is also. please

I used to have a problem with constant farting (I had it for about 10 years). I finally figured out that chronic dehydration was the cause. I tried drinking 2L of water many times but it would never last. Then finally I succeeded and the farting went away after 6 weeks of drinking water. It would come back each time I went back to old habits of not drinking water. I have never had the problem since then - I think. I am still the 'smelly' person in the office (I have perfect hygiene) and I am wondering if I am farting without knowing it? I have had my office described as 'stuffy' or smelling like dog!

I've noticed that my pumps are starting to smell a lot more than they usually ever did... And i have noticed that it's more at night time... I don't particularly eat bad, and try to eat fruit veg and much as possible. Would there be anything to help my pumps not smelling.
