Conditions

Blushing

Front view of Rosacea on neck

Although many of these conditions could leave you red in the face – blushing is brief, milder, and often seen as a reflection of embarrassment, guilt or nervousness. Other causes include spicy foods, high fever, exercise, certain drugs and the menopause, where women experience the infamous hot flushes. Blushing happens when tiny muscles in the blood vessels relax allowing more blood to pass through, whilst flushing makes the person markedly red on the face and other areas of the skin. The latter can be brought on by lots of reasons similar to blushing, but allergic reactions and dehydration can contribute to this. Rosacea, on the other hand, is a condition that looks like a flush or a blush, and can progress from persistent to intermittent redness with pimples without blackheads and red lines where the blood vessels of the face become prominent. Aggravated by certain foods and environments, rosacea responds to treatment but is incurable.

I have been going red for as long as i can remember. When i was in school and a teacher asked me something, i would go red. When i had to stand infront of a class and speak i would go red. Even infront of people i have known for years, if someone asks me something and i feel uncomfortable i will go red.. LIKE A TOMATO.. what can i do about it?

Hi. I, like others who have commented have very red cheeks and nose. Other than first thing in the morning when I wake up, it is red all the time. And when I say red, boy it is red. I know longer have spots and my skin is nice and soft. I have tried several creams/lotions etc but nothing seems to work. It is really holding me back, I have been bullied about it a lot and it is always on the back of my mind when I meet people. This probably makes it worse, but its got to the point where I avoid mirrors, it upsets me so much. I have ginger hair and fair skin so I guess that is the reason, although none of my siblings have it. I was told by a friend that this was mentioned on your program, but I missed that episode. Something about thin skin on the face??? Please could you recommend something that would help. This has effected my confidence and self esteem for many years now. Thankyou.

I am nearly 20 and since I was about 14 I've constantly had a red nose. Whilst my nose is red all the time, my cheeks take very little to make them red as well. Anything from exercise, having a drink or even sitting in a warm room for 5 minutes makes my entire face beetroot. I've been to the doctor and quite honestly he made out I was fussing about nothing and gave me a gel (simply to get rid of me) which has done nothing. Though I try not to let it get me down I hate my face

my cheeks are the colour of strawberries! and its not just when its cold or when i exercise its ALL the time! im sick and tired of being teased and i just want it to go away! i've had it as long as i can remember and i dont want to live my life looking like a tomato and always being so self conscious! please tell me theres something i can do! help me!!!xx

ever since i can remember i have been red in the face and i have been teased alot at school about it but i havent got high blood pressure and even when round people iv known all my life im red and its not a pinky red its RED why is this help me please

xx

For the last 4 years I have been suffering from something which sounds similar to blushing. However, i don't blush in my cheeks, it is the skin on my chest and neck that go very hot and red. This is really effecting my confidence, as anytime I talk to groups of people or am in a slightly stressful environment it makes me feel uncomfortable and alot of people start to think that i am having an allergic reaction and panic about me. I find this redness disgusting and I just want to know how I can control this?? Please.

I'm fourteen years old and for all of my life, my cheeks have been red. They are always red and get very hot. Over the past couple of years, the redness isn't so bad but is still very noticeable! I very rarely get spots, its just the redness making me feel so self-conscious! People at school often make remarks about my cheeks, which makes me embarrassed, which then adds to the redness. I have tried a few cover-up creams from boots which haven't worked, is there any proper treatments for my condition?

I've always suffered from blushing, it happens when there's the slightest bit of heat, when i'm cold, when i'm embarassed when i'm not embarassed, meeting new people, meeting old friends, when i get put on the spot or asked a simple question. I hate it and it really knocks my confidence especially when i was at school the worst thing someone could say was you've gone red. I feel i would be alot more confident and out going if i could get passed it and enjoy more of my life. Please help.

i get extremely red in the face and its not just for a brief period

its all the time

what should i do?

i always go really red and it can be quite embarrasing because i do a lot of dancing and i tend to sweat a lot. is there anything i can do to help?

thanx
