Gender Dysphoria

Gender Dysphoria

Gender Dysphoria is a condition where a person feels they are trapped in the body of the wrong sex – men feel they should have been born a woman, and women feel they should have been born a man. Symptoms of anxiety and confusion normally appear at a young age, but persist into adulthood and cause a number of psychiatric symptoms (though ongoing research is examining whether there is a biological cause). Treatment options can vary from simple lifestyle changes so that a person ‘lives’ as their preferred sex, to more advanced treatment options, including hormone therapy to change a person’s physical appearance, right through to surgery to permanently change a person’s sex.

I just want to say that all my life I had wanted to be a boy, because I wanted my body to match my mind. I tried talking to my family about it, but it was constantly dismissed, so I stopped trying. In Every single dream I have ever had I have been male , and now I feel trapped as a woman. My point is that if you do feel this way, don't give up on it because some people might think its wrong.

Hello Laura u fully understand what you are going through x

You see, I'm pretty androgynous. I could pass of as a guy or a girl, when actually, I'm a guy. I've been on denial, but there are times that I prefer to be seen as a girl. I've got man boobs, which is a plus. I'm pretty skinny, and I'm really hairless. No armpit hair, leg hair, facial, arms, not even pubic hair. But despite that, I do enjoy being a guy. And I've never been really attracted to other guys. It's like I'm lesbian, but am really a guy. Is that weird?

do you in fact mean straight? there is like a whole subsect of people like you who love the androgynous thing - they're called genderqueer and if you're happy as you are then no, its not weird.

I am a 18 almost 19 year old MTF Transsexual. I came out and told my mum when I was turning 12, it was the best thing as she was so understanding. She then contacted my school where I seen an educational psychiatrist that referred me to a psychiatrist at my local GP hospital. I was referred to a clinic called the Sandyford initiative clinic in Glasgow Scotland where I seen a Gender specialist who then told me that I was basically a transsexual. I had to keep going back to get further checkups to make sure that what I was feeling wasn't a faze and I was truly adamant about what I was feeling. I was then told that I was to young for any additional treatment to pursue my body's desire, but I could go on a blocker that could stop puberty from continuing any further (GNrh agnostic therapy)which was injected into my leg every three months. I am now on hormone treatment and getting facial/genital laser hair removal. I am now on a waiting list to undergo my gender transition which I cannot wait for. But for all those people out there, please don't hide it, as once puberty has done its damage it's very hard to go back almost impossible, and most people will be understanding as this horrible condition is becoming more common and open in life today.

Hi, like you im stuck in a 17 year old girls body but ive been unable to come out due to school. But i am able to express it due to cosplay. Many sites eg cosplay island, give sites for chest binds, T-kingdom being the best choice. though i choice to make my own out of denim layers as well as velcro and zips. though some people like my friends still prefer to bind with bandages wearing a size small sports bra underneth, pushing thier breasts up toward thier underarms. Though binding makes you feel better i wouldn't suggest binding for more than five hours as it ristricts breathing as i have had the joys of experianceing. In all T-kingdom, or make your own, and enjoy yourself. xox

i am a 19 year old transexual and have felt like i have been trapped in the wrong body for ages i have been to the doctors and am now on a waiting list to go to the psycosexual service in manchester but its a 9 month waiting list and i feel like my life is slipping away i was wondering if there was anyway to speed up the process as i really want to start the hormone tablets as i am sick of shaving everyday its very embarrasing i just want to be a normal girl please help

Under 18s can be referred to a gender identity clinic called the Tavistock and Portland clinic. They can assess you and see if you have gender dysphoria. You have to talk to your GP and see a psychiatrist first to check it's not caused by any other condition.

thanks for your help i am going to visit my GP very soon
