Gynaecomastia
Ask any teenage boy if he’d like a pair of breasts for the day and the response will probably be a resounding “yes!” This will usually be followed by an enthusiastic and all too detailed account of how the day would pan out with his new bosoms. But for teenage boys whose physical appearance really is defined by this curvy feminine feature, the embarrassment far outweighs the novelty. Gynaecomastia (more commonly known as ‘man boobs’) is a common condition where tender breast tissue grows under the nipples. It is usually caused by an imbalance of hormones during puberty and usually disappears without treatment within a couple of years. ‘False gynecomastia’ is when men and boys develop breasts as a result of too much fat on their chest, which is usually helped by losing weight, through a combination of healthy eating and regular exercise.

I am 13 and have extremely servere gynocomastia. I'm quite overweight but currently trying to loose it. I can feel a large lump under both nipples and my left boob has grown bigger than my right. I'm just wondering if it will ever go away because some people say it will but in most cases I've seen on the internet it stays with people for life. Is there any medication out there that works or can you get it done free by the nhs? Please give me some advice it is very embarrassing and upsetting. I try to hide it from other people and try to always keep my shirt on
I have a severe case of man boobs tried the nhs route had tests and met with a surgeon but Was told i couldnt have surgery cant afford to go private so dont know What to do it may sound stupid to some but it is ruining my life !!! Help please .
Im a Senior now the NHS play the pass it on game its not my dept.NHS fails to deliver a simple procedure to remove fat.The statment above Excercise&healthy eating is nonsense evern at my slimest i had man boobs bullied at school.NHS fails to reconise if a man doesnt look normal it can cost the NHS a lot through Physiogical problems. Many Gps have the Attitude.Rather than treat the Patient its outragious its not on the NHS.
I am 41 and at first found a small pea sized lump under my right nipple. Within a week, this had changed a a very tender lump under the whole of not just my right nipple, but both. Being a drinker and smoker, and with cancer in the family, I of course immediately thought the worst. I have just had breast screening, and the doctor told me it is Gynaecomastia. I have to wait for my consultant to send me all the results - bloods, etc - but am wondering what is the likelihood of having these sore lumps removed by the NHS? I lost my job last year, and am still on benefits as have other medical problems, too - having looked at some of the medication I am taking and their side effects, it seems it could be one or two of the drugs I am on. Any advice on having the lumps removed?
Im 49 & Ive had man bobs for 35yrs & Im sick to death with them. Im a muscular guy and always been active & I've been told I look ten-twelve years younger than I am. Ive never ever taken my shirt off in public anywhere, & I don't even wear certain tshirts in the summer as they show. Its been making me depressed for decades & even one drunken night feeling sorry for myself I was going to cut them off with a kitchen knife! I can't afford private surgery & I don't hold much hope of getting it done on the NHS as it will only be seen as cosmetic. Ive had enough.
I have Sympathy for you im a senior now so it dont matter so much but you are underlining what ive said that not looking normal can lead to Physicatric problems which cost the NHS Big Money(a different budget.)So doctors dont treat it.Women sometimes eat till they get massive to get what Doctors Call Cosmetic Surgery.I dont see wanting to look normal Cosmetic. A clept lip is not normal man boobs should be the same.A Women who has boobs no matter what size is normal unless to big&a danger to her health.
i dnt know if got man boobs but my nipples stick out wen hot or relaxed is this moobs
Hi I'm 19 years old and I have man boobs, I train regularly and eat healthy but I still can't be able to get rid of them is there any way you could help?
I'm 15 years old and I have man boobs I do lot of exsice and I has not gone the man boobs has been with me since 11 years old what do I need to do to get rid of them
I am now 23 years old and noticed a lump on my left side whilst at secondary school, it was confirmed as gynaecomastia and through the nhs had an operation to remove the lump at the age of 19 years old. It returned just over a month after the operation, i was told it was just swelling from the operation although 4 years on it is back to the same size it was before. I have been back to my GP even went back to my local hospital for more tests and was told by the consultant that it was very abnormal to only be on one side and there is no explaination to why it had returned. I have just been refused funding by the pct for another operation and dont have any other avenues to turn to as I cannot affort private treatment. I have always been fit/ healthy and never overweight, I dont take drugs or drink excessive amounts of alcohol and all tests have not concluded the cause! Advice pls?!!!
