Conditions
Haemorrhoids
“The grapes of wrath” is both a classic John Steinbeck novel and a name for haemorrhoids, which can be an uncomfortable and often painful condition. Otherwise known as piles, this is when blood vessels in and around the anus become swollen and inflamed, which is both an inconvenient and embarrassing location on the body to be affected. It is, however, a very common condition. Around 50% of people experience the condition at some time in their life, with pregnant women and the elderly most susceptible. Treatment will depend on the severity of the piles, but the symptoms may often disappear on their own after a few days.

I think I have piles. :O( I have been suffering from a very itchy bottom for a very long time (years in fact!) and this occurs mainly during the night and quite otten keep me awake. I have worked out that this itch is telling me that by mid morning I'll be going to the toilet. I sometimes also get mucus/jelly from my bottom. I've never been one for going to the toilet more than once every other day but have added a lot of fibre to my diet hoping this would ease my troubles. Unfortunately this has made my stools very soft and am now straining and the other night the toilet was full of blood and as were my stools. I know that bright colour blood is better than dark and have deduce this is probably piles. Any advice? Please don't suggest visiting my GP, I can't I'm way too embarrassed and that's why I've suffered so long with this.

just found small lumps around my anus that look like raisins, not grapes. They are purple in colour. Nopain, itching or bleeding.... is it piles or something else?
My partner has what looks like a small enclosed skin 'bag' or 'tag' coming from her anus. It seems to have a blood supply however doesn't seem to be piles as shown on the tv prog. or this site. It can be just regular skin colour or can be inflamed. Ant advice welcome
