Lymphogranuloma Venereum

Testing for LGV (Photo courtesy of CDC)

This might sound like the scientific name of a recently discovered species of deep sea jellyfish, but LGV is actually a sexually transmitted infection that, until a few years ago, was very rare in the UK and the rest of Western Europe. However, that situation changed in 2003 and 2004 when there were a series of outbreaks among gay men. LGV is almost exclusively transmitted sexually. The bacteria can be transmitted when infected mucosal surfaces (in men, the warm moist skin of the mouth, penis and rectum) come into contact with an uninfected person’s mucosal surfaces, during unprotected anal and oral sex, and fisting. LGV is actually a strain of Chlamydia. However, whereas a regular Chlamydia infection can be treated with a one-off dose of antibiotics for one week; LGV requires a 3 week course. If you want to avoid symptoms such as festering sores and ruptured, pus-filled glands, in and around the anus and groin, wear a condom!

i noticed 2years ago that i got a couple of spots on the lips of my vigina also just inside , wen i got them first i couldnt burst them, but i have presisted and when i did burst them yellow dry stuff comes out of them, but they are always there never go away can u please tell me what this is as im so worried…there not sore just itchy.??

i have a few little pimple-like spots on the tops of my thighs on the inside of the thigh. i only noticed them a few weeks ago. they dont hurt or anything, and i tried to pop a couple of the bigger ones and a tiny little bit of puss and blood came out but thats about it, they have now just left a little scar where they were. when i have a bath or shower they become much more raised and noticeable.
i did think it was beacuse my trousers would rub against my leg, i lost some weight not long ago and my trousers fall down so the croth bit where the legs come together now sits where these spots have appeared. any ideas about what they are or how i can get rid of them?

My Doctor has said Barthlomew Cysts form when the glands in the vulva/vagina area get cloged and do not drain properly. They appear 1 at a time, hurt, and are usually full of pus. But I have only had 2 in 30 years, not every 3 to 4 months.

i have boil type sore appear around my vagina and top of my thighs occasionally, obviously they get sore and eventually errupt and cause scarring…is there anything i can do to firsty stop the boils and to get rid of the scarring. I am overweight and I understand this can be a cause…I have been tested for diabeties and do not have that.

This sounds like Herpes. Have you ever been tested?

I was worried that I had something wrong with my vulva and that area as there were little spots down there. I had it looked at by a doctor who said they were just glands that excrete mucus and stuff (not nice i know) but they are normal (everyone has glands there) and sometimes they fill like the glands elsewhere in your body. he said to only really worry if they hurt or are sore or get loads bigger. so the spots on your vagina might be that, but it is worth getting it checked out

I too sometimes get a spot on my vagina now and then, it will get a head on it like a normal spot and if I squeeze it, it will burst and within a day or two its completely gone. I too will only get one about every 3 or 4 months, are these just spots, ingrowing hairs perhaps?? Why are they there??

i sometimes get a spot on the inside of my vagina, it can appear anywhere on the inside even on labia and i usually only get one at a time. it is like a white head spot that is sore, but it doesn't blister and after a few days goes away. i never get more than one at a time and i may get it once every 3 to 4 months. just wondered if it was anything to worry about. i have been with my partner for the last 10 years and neither have strayed and i have had a total of four partners.

i often get a very sensitive and sore clitoris, so much so that i cant be touched there. At the time it looks like a blood blister.
What is this?
