Conditions

Over-Lactating Breasts

Breast Milk Production

Over-Lactating breasts isn’t a common condition, usually concerns over not having enough milk are more usual for new mothers. Symptoms of over lactation for mothers can be engorged breasts, plugged ducts and mastitis. For babies it can lead to fussing, gassiness, and hiccupping. A potential cause for this condition may be that the milk ejection reflex is overactive. However, over lactation is a relatively easy condition to solve. You can try to avoid pumping, because once you pump you are sending your body signals to produce more milk. Try to relax during feeding and alternate feeding positions. A laid down position will be helpful as gravity will help reduce the flow of milk. Often, the problem will pass as your body begins to settle into a routine and learns how much milk your baby will need to consume.

I had my hysterectomy in 2002, Around that time I noticed my nipples leaked a yellow fluid substance. I saw a breast specialist then and was told sometimes this happens . Over the years I have experienced this from time to time and have had a couple of mammograms. Last year the discharge was bloody I was advised it eas probably a infection in a duct.I do occasionally still get discharge and discomfort but have felt that I have mainly been ignored because I am overweight by around 3/4 stone I do have family history of cancer so do worry . Just wanted to say I don't think its normal so will continue to go for checkups.Being big seems to blind the medics .

I am 21 as well and have been on the pill for around 4 years. Every time I have my 7 day break I have my period as normal and my breasts leak quite a lot. I have been on 3 or 4 different pills in this time so I don't think trying a different pill would help anything. It can be very embarrassing and I usually have to try and wear black as it can sometimes seep out over my bra. Can anyone recommend anything?
