Scalp Psoriasis
Psoriasis affects around 3% of the UK’s population and involves the speeding up of the bodies usual mechanism for replacing skin. Scalp psoriasis involves thick scales and redness that appear around the scalp, normally becoming itchy and inflamed. Other symptoms include tightness and soreness around the head. The normal treatment options include shampoo that can be use at home, but severe scalp psoriasis normally has to be treated by a dermatologist, who may prescribe steroid creams or salicylic acid. Although the condition can return multiple times, it rarely lasts for long periods of time and more generally occurs in flare-ups.

I have suffered from skin psoriasis, nail psoriasis and scalp psoriasis for around 8 years since age of 30. I think it was triggered by stress but is also hereditary as my mum has it. I find spending time in the sun/sea gets rid of it but obviously can't do that all the time! I use Dovobet steroidal cream for the stubborn patches and doublebase moisturiser for all over. I also have diprosalic scalp solution which is soothing when my scalp flares up. I have found that dead sea salt scrub is helpful (Dead Sea source) as you can feel it creating a waterproof barrier on your skin. Unfortunately I have yet to find anything to help the nail condition.
When I scratch my head, I get lots of dandruff under my nails, and it seems greasy, even one day after washing. This causes problems like people thinking I have headlice, and it is embarrassing when I have a parting in my hair, because it shows. Please help, I want my hair to be stylish again!

I've had scalp psoriasis for about 34 years. a near constant companion. I've tried calcipotriol and betnovate, all to no avail. now i just live with the scabs, bleeding and soreness.
I've suffered from severe dry scalp and doctors don't know the cause of it. From seeing the pictures and comments I think I might have psoriasis. I am constantly scratching and picking the flakes of my head. All of the shampoos that was prescribed for me have not worked at all. Please HELP ME, as I don't know what to do anymore, and also, I'm tired of wearing headbands all the time.
I am 17 and have suffered with scalp and nail psoriasis since i was about15, i use devonex scalp solution which helps in the short term but i have not yet found a good long term option, as for the nail psoriasis well there doesnt seem much hope at all..

I've suffered from scalp & vaginal psoriasis for several years. I've tried all the usual shampoo's & been prescribed numerous ointments & lotions over the years without much sucess. I was recently prescribed an immune supresant (methatrexate) and for the first time in years my condition began to improve. Unfortunately the side affects were so severe I had to stop taking it so back to the drawing board!!!!
The best thing I've ever used is Coconut oil, it's really cheap but works way better than any medicated cream, lotions or potions. I rub it into my scalp before I go to bed.
I've been suffering from mild scalp psoriasis for about 10 years. The only thing I've found that helps is coconut shampoo, I've tried all the stinky tar shampoo's and none of them worked. Hydrocortizone cream is also really good for using behind the ears, clears it up really quickly!
