Sweaty Palms

Sweaty Palms

Hyperhidrosis can affect any part of the body where there are sweat glands, but it is on the palms of the hands that it can prove particularly embarrassing. An effective treatment for excessive sweating on the palms is Iontophoresis where sufferers submerge their hands in a bowl of water, through which a weak electric current is passed. The process can block the sweat glands and normally last around 20-30 minutes. Normally the process requires twice weekly sessions over 8-10 weeks, in which time the symptoms should improve. Unfortunately it is not a permanent cure, but the purchase of a home kit can ensure that treatment is carried out indefinitely.

Forget to ask does anyone know which Iontophoresis machine is the most recommended?

Hi I'm 32 and for as long as I can remember I have had excessive sweating on my hands and feet. I have been to the GP so many times in an attempt to cure the problem but the powders and roll-ons etc. that i have been given have never even come close to working. I did go to the doctors about iontophoresis but they told me they could not help me on the public health system. I have looked at buying a iontophoresis machine but they are so incredibly expensive and what if it doesn't work?? Is there a solution? Please can someone help me?!

I'm 41 and suffer from hyperhidrosis facial sweating. This is more prominent in hotter weather but is very socially restricting and embarrassing. An example of when it is most notable is when I'm chatting to other people and I can feel a temperature surge. This is then increased further if I start laughing. Before I know it I'm pouring with sweat just sitting down chatting to people.(Having to wipe dry my forehead, brow, cheeks). I cannot reduce or control this at all. GP tried me with glycopyrolate but this is very short term with variable results. Any ideas of any successful alternatives? Thanks for reading.

Hi, I'm 14 years old and I have sweating all over my body. I am too embarrassed to interact with others and therefore do not want to visit the doctors. I have to build up the courage to talk to someone and just hope they don't want to 'high 5' or 'shake hands'. In this instance i just have to 'fist bump' (: They find it weird that I do it and the fact that they find it disrespectful doesn't really help. I cant get a girlfriend as I ma scared that they will want to hold my hands etc. Is there anything I can do to permanently get rid of my sweaty hands, feet, arm pits, face, legs. ITS A NIGHTMARE! HELP PLEASE (;

Hi. I'm a 32 yr old mother of 3 and have suffered from hyperhidrosis all my life. And it's not just my hands and feet. It's pretty much everywhere really. I hate hot weather as it make everything so much worse with the sweat patches etc. And my children never want to hold my hands either - 'Your hands are too wet Mummy' is one thing I get quite alot. I've been prescribed Driclor so many times but it doesn't work and you can't use it all over your body. I need to do something as it's driving me potty and I to have been sent away from the doctors saying they can't do anything. xx

Glad to know its not just me! I suffer from really sweaty hands, that particually get worse when i am in school, but can seem to get better when i'm outide. Its really embarrssing because i feel i can't do anything. Sometimes i suffer from sweaty feet and you can see the sweat in my socks, and sometimes when i'm wearing a t-shirt. I'm so self concious, is there anything i can do?

wow I am quite surprised with the amount of people that also suffer from the same symptoms. I am 22 years old and I have had this problem all my life. My hands, feet and under arms are affected. They sweat even when my hands are cold...and even when I think about it, (just like right now) and all this time my hands were dry and as I am typing they are starting to sweat. I've never tried any products to stop this I guess I kind of dealt with it. As I scared of surgery going wrong. I guess I dealt with it all by not always letting people to hold my hands or touch them. When I was younger a lot people made comments but it wasn't too bad, people were more fascinated. I would say these days the problem is holding hands with the boyfriend....at first I tried to avoid it but once I explained that it just happens my boyfriend just accepted it. So I don't think that anyone should let this bring them down, you can still enjoy life just like anyone else!
