Vaginal Discharge
It’s perfectly normal for all women to experience vaginal discharge. However, this nugget of information will be of little comfort to you if your handbag is a repository for clean pairs of ‘emergency knickers’. Vaginal discharge usually begins just before puberty and ends after the menopause. Effectively this is your vagina cleaning itself. Normal discharge is clear, white or creamy and may give off a musky smell, but it’s not unpleasant. You may notice the amount changing from time to time and getting heavier just before your period. Sexual arousal or pregnancy may also bring an increase. However, if your discharge becomes thicker and has a consistency rather like cottage cheese, then you may have a bacterial infection such as thrush. And if it’s a greenish yellow colour then it may be more serious and could be a symptom of gonorrhoea or trichomoniasis. And be warned: chlamydia may also cause a change in your vaginal discharge.

I have suffered with a vaginal discharge for about 5 years. It is variable and I am unsure what is normal and what isnt. Sometimes it is watery and clear other times it is whitish/clear but sticky/glupy. Have seen my GP previously and sent sample which showed bacterial vaginosis. I have tried anti-biotics and used balance active but it doesnt seem to have changed. Any more suggestions would be much appreciated.
My four year old daughter suffers from irritation of the vagina, she uses mild steroid cream when it becomes itchy. I have taken her to the Drs on numerous occasions and swabs and urine samples have been taken. All come back clear. I have noticed that if my daughter showers on a morning, by night she has a strong odour which is her vagina. if she is not bathed or showered daily then it is extrememly noticable.......I dont know what to do, any suggestions. I do not use anything that can cause irritation, and I try and ensure she has plenty of fresh air to her privates.......can anyone suggest anything.

i have experienced a large amount of vaginal discharge for a while now, it is clear and has no smell, but i have to change my pants regularly or wear a pantyliner/sanitary towel or it just soaks straight through my pants. not only is it unpleasant to have a wet vagina and pants all the time but it is also ruining my relationship as i am reluctant to let my boyfriend touch me unless we are both drunk as it is really wet and i get really embarrassed about it, please help cause i really dont know what to do?! if you search excessive vaginal wetness on google my symptoms are identical.
hi im 24 and have a problem down below. i get alot more discharge since i had my little girl 3 years ago but its not like it was. now its a yellowy colour with a bad smell and its really lumpy. its very embarrassing. i cant have intercourse with my partner of 6 years any more as the smell is very over powering. i have tried everything to remove the smell but nothing is working. please can i have some help
I am 37yrs old and not had children. I have large amounts of white discharge in varying degrees after my period during my cycle totally unrelated to sexual interaction and unrelated to desire. The pH of my vagina was tested with paper to see if i had bacterial vaginosis it was a good pH. I asked if i could have a variant of thrush instead of the usual thrush, i never quite got an answer to that. I was treated for thrush both orally and pessrie. When the microbiologist looked at my lactobacilli they found that my lactobaiclli were tapered in structure compared to normal lactobacilli. I now use one tube of balance active after my period for two nights which seems to freshen my vaginal odour but does not stop this discharge. They did suggest the discharge was caused by hormones and to try the combination contraceptive pill which i have yet to try. I would like to know a. Where to buy boots balance active cheaper that in the shops perhaps online. b. My friend was treated for thrush with an acid i think different from usual treatment what is this treatment. c. What can i do to mop up this discharge within my vagina. d. What else could possibly be the reason for this.
Hi, im 23 and i have had a problem with down below for about 6 years. It all started when i slept with someone on holiday, i came home and a few days later had a horrendous about of discharge, went to the docs, got tested n treated for a small infection. Ever since then i have always had a bit too much discharge, enough that i have to wear pantyliners everyday or my underwear would feel uncomfortable. Sometimes it smells really bad, possibly fishy and does an odd time get itchy. It really does get me down and feel very embarrassed about it. I have been to the docs many times since then and been tested with nothing coming back and have also been to my gum clinic where the results came back clear also. Are there any ideas of what it could be? Or what i can do?
sounds like bacterial vaginosis, i get it bad everytime i have sex, i never used to get it, it only started a couple of months back, live yoghurt really helps!!!

I got given treatment for bacterial vaginosis about 3 weeks ago, but i am still very unsure whether the discharge i am getting now is normal. I shower everyday but still get discharge everyday. Its white-ish and has this smell to it. Im not exactly sure how to describe the smell,it is not really bad but is not exacly 'pleasant' either. It can get quite uncomfortable and i hate having this moist feeling.
Hello, I am 19 years old and for quite a while I have noticed that I have an uncomfortable discharge occuring usually after my period. At first it's quite bloody (stained) and then it becomes a watery white/yellowy colour, that sometimes need to use a thin pad. Plus, it always carries an unpleasnt smell. Is there any way that I can stop or decrease the dischage? Advise Please!
