Dr Dawn: Penises come in all shapes and sizes. Take these hockey players; no face the same, no penis the same. Each penis is unique. It’s during puberty, usually between the ages of 11 and 18, when your penis and testicles will begin to develop. Although the penis doesn’t actually stop growing until the ages of 18 to 21. And it’s normal for boys to develop at different ages and rates. Whether you’re going through puberty, are about to go through puberty or have been through puberty, I guarantee, nearly all guys have had the same willy worries.

Hollie Jay-Bowes: Every guy i’ve ever come across has always wanted to measure his penis – what is that about?
Boy 3: Something else that bothers boys my age is maybe if it’s bent or something.
Boy 2: When you grow up you always worry about it like a lot more than you should do and then when you get to like you know our age you think well it’s not really that important at all – it’s what you do with it, isn’t it?

One of the main differences in appearance is between a circumcised penis and a non-circumcised one.
Circumcision is a procedure that surgically removes either fully or partially the flap of skin that covers the head of the penis called the foreskin.
About 20 percent of men in the world have been circumcised.Mainly for religious, cultural or medical reasons.
Not only can penises look very different from each other, but of course the same penis will look very different when it’s erect compared to when it’s flaccid.
An erection is when the penis enlarges and stiffens in response to sexual excitement.
A message is sent from the brain to release blood into the penis, making it lengthen and become firm.
Some guys have quite a large flaccid penis that when erect only grows very slightly.
Others will have a fairly small flaccid penis that increases in size quite a bit .
With the onset of sexual arousal, boys get erections more often.
And won’t always have control of them.

Anthony Quinlan: It can be awkward sometimes having a penis as well. It can get in the way a bit and obviously growing up it can be slightly embarrassing when you get erections in class and stuff.
Kent Riley: No you never really ever get control of them, i mean i was on set the other day in white boxers, and you know, it started, err you know, doing it’s thing.

On average a teenager has four erections every night and a wet dream, every three weeks.
A ‘wet dream’, is when you ejaculate in your sleep.
It’s totally natural – in fact over 80 percent of guys have had one in their lives.

Boy 5: I think some teenagers worry about having wet dreams and others just think that it’s a natural part of the process of growing up and others, some of them look forward to having one because it shows that they’re finally becoming a man.
Anthony Quinlan: I think i masturbated too much to have wet dreams personally.

More important than the size is the health of your penis.
So clean your genitals at least once a day and don’t forget under the foreskin.
Avoid applying aftershaves, talc or deodorants directly on the genital area as they can irritate.
Always wear a condom and remember unprotected sex will put you at risk of catching a sexually transmitted infection and some nasty consequences.

I am 15 and when erect my penis is 6 inch is it smalll and will it grow any more
I am near 19 years of age and i have very little pubic hair on my body. I have no arm pit hair and very little pubic hair around my penis you could count the amount of hair around my penis in one hand. My pensi is large but i dont understand why I have so little pubic hair.

Hi Harry, im the same as you, getting errections when ever im naked or in boxers, and i also find this really embarrasing. I am also a swimmer so some times i can get errections at really inapropriate times, I would also like to know if theres a reason or way to stop errections happening randomly or if theres a reason i always get errections when not 'dressed'.
Hi iv noticed over the last year that the veins on my peins have become larger and more dilated and tortuous, this is not a slight change but a rather large change. Is there any cause for this and is there anyway they can be treated. They are not painfully but i dont like their appearance
I'm 15 years old and when erect, my penis is in the shape of a banana with the head facing down. Also, the foreskin, when the penis is erect, doesn't stay off the head (especially during masturbation). Is this normal?
I dont think this is normal, but it isn't a cause for worry. This sounds like a condition called phimosis, which means your foreskin is too tight. If this doesn't cause you or your sexual partner any pain, I wouldn't worry about it. If your erections are uncomfortable, or you experience cracks in the foreskin, you should see your doctor for treatment. Treatments can include circumcision, stretching the foreskin, or medications.
