Consultation: Anal Warts

Up to 70,000 cases of anal and genital warts are diagnosed every year in the UK, and they are usually spread by sexual contact. In this Embarrassing Illnesses consultation, Dr Dawn Harper uses freezing as the method of ridding anal warts from a patient who has been sitting on them for a long time!

hi am a 31 year old male. and first got warts on my penis in 2008. got them frozen off. and never saw them for over a year. them in 2010 them came back about 4 times. and this year, i am constantly getting wartz around my penis and on and in my anus. i am never clear for a whole week. i just keep breaking out in them. i got warticon cream from the gum clinic and my doc to treat the warts on my genitials. and that helps then i started getting them on my bum hole and started useing it there and it helpd. but now i cannot reach inside to get the ones inside. i have just saw an article saying if you have warts in the anul canel then you have to get them sergicaly removed. but i was pleased to also read that you dont stay in hospitial for this treatment. you go in as an out patient. so your in and out. all i want to no is why are they attacking my body now.? i havent had sex in over a year now due to ambarressment. there ruleing me and my sex life. and i am sick of the itchyness on the inside of my anul. thank you

Hey Anthony Join the club, the first wart i got was on my penis and I had it frozen twice it then dissapeared. I then got one on my anus and when I went to see the dr he referred me to a specialist, they found 12 on the inside of my anal canal, I had them surgically removed by lazer. And was in in the morning and out of hospital by 3pm, i am not going to lie it was painful but I thought no pain no gain, and lived on jelly and liquid for 2 weeks, (great for weight loss) needless to say the buggers have returned and I have to go back to have 4 removed by surgery, hoping this will be the final time. Unfortunately there is no telling if they will return as it is a virus and can lie dormant in the body. It rules my sex life as well but suppose we just have to make the most of a bad situation. All the best have them checked out, they will just get bigger and spread. All the best James

I have had two little warts on my bum cheek ever since I can remember and I have had NO Sexual contact and I don't know how they got there:( Any ideas on how to get rid of them?

If they on your bum cheek I doubt they are anal warts and could just be a normal wart that could be frozen off. Anal warts like mucous membranes and warmth. Go to the dr or get treatment ointment from the pharmacy. Consider yourself lucky that they are not anal warts.

Hi, I am 15 years old (male) and recently noticed (about a week ago) that there is some sort of lump on the outside of my anus. I have no clue what it is, but it hurts alot when im either on the loo or washing myself in the shower. It doesnt itch or throb. I havent had a good look at it, but I definitly feel something odd. Please help me, I have no idea what i should do and id like to get rid of it before it might get any worse. Thanks very much!
