Consultation: Asymmetrical Breasts

Around 99% of women have asymmetrical breasts to some degree, however for many of these women this difference can be more than a cup size. Dr Dawn Harper refers a patient to a specialist who recommends liposuction in order to solve this embarrassing illness from series one.

Hi i am 18 years of age and for a while i have had a few dark hairs on my left breast but lately back now more is growing and getting very long. I feel very uncomfortable about it and was wondering is there anything i can get or do to remove it or may it just be a horomone thing and it might go away itself.
thanks

i have the same problem as many of you, my right breast is 2cups larger than the left. iv had this problem since i was 13, and im turning 18 in 3weeks.
iv never had confidence wearing tight clothes as i would find it so embarrasing. its really hard because im goin to university in september, but dreading it beacause of this.
my mum is the only person that knows and she always says how pretty i am and how it shouldnt affect me.
it also effects my relationship with my boyfriend. iv been with him for 1 and a half years, but never let him touch me there. hes not noticed, he just presumes im shy.
this knocks my confidence so much, my mum finds it unusual as im such an out-going, happy person.
please help! thank you

I have Asymmetrical Breasts. I have done ever since a small while after they started to develop properly at 11/12. So after a while when it didn't look like the right one was going to catch up I went to my doctor. I was 14 at the time and the difference was very noticable even for that age. They referred me to the NHS and I got examined but the NHS denied me to have surgery to enlarge the right one (it's basically flat chested and would have no breasts at all if I had a reduction) because I was too overweight apparently (though only by about a stone) and warned me that if I had the surgery there may be complications becaue of my wieght, even warning of death. That is no exageration. Yet in these video's the women aren't exactly tiny and they got their surgery? Now I don't know if they were only saying this because I was underage at the time and it may be a different now as i'm 18 but it doesn't seem fair that if someone goes on tv, they can get their surgery?
Although I say this I do have a boyfriend and he doesn't mind at all and to an extent I put up with it but I would like to be able to wear nice clothing and have a normal cleavage without having to worry about bending over and someone looking down my top.
And now having researched into the problem again after about 3 years I have found many problems with having the surgery and just don't know what to do about it any more. Specially since there is the chance of them still evening out when I have children. I'd rather it happen naturally than surgery.
I just don't know any more.

I am glad to see so many women finally talking about this. Perhaps if everyone worked to bring this to light on the medical forefront, it would not be such a headache when dealing with insurance companies to correct the problem.

I am 34 years old and have severe asymmetrical breasts. My right is an F cup and the left is a B (barely C)cup. It was first noticed when I was 13 years old. Each doctor told me that I would outgrow it, and that the left would eventually "catch up" with the right. When I was in my 20's I was denied insurance coverage to have it corrected, "due to cosmetic reasons".

I gave up hope until a year ago when I found a boutique that deals primarily with mastectomy patients. I was given a prescription from my doctor to purchase a mastectomy prosthetic and was once again denied coverage by my insurance once again because I was not a breast cancer patient and it was considered a cosmetic issue. I purchased the prosthetic on my own.

Insurance companies need to be made aware that this is not just a self esteem issue. Women with this congenital defect are also plagued with a number of back, shoulder and neck problems. The same as they would if they had two overly large breasts.

Until then, while I fight this problem, I wear my mastectomy prosthetic proudly and encourage anyone with the same problem to look into purchasing one. The first time I tried mine on in the boutique I became so overwhelmed that the tears poured down. For the first time in my life, I looked "normal".

I'm 13 and i have noticed that my left breast is about 2 cup sizes smaller than my right which is a 34B, i also have lots of strech mark covering my breast and i cant wearing nice "low" cut tops…
Please help because i have no self confidence around boys!! PLEASE HELP!!!

i've lost my confidence, since 12 i noticed that my boobs are not the same and as many one is bigger than the other my right breast is a D and my left a C not much of a difference but enough to notice.. it doesnt help witht the pressure from the celebrity world.

I am now 18 and at the end of my tether as i just cant bare them is there anything out there i can do

help

I'm 15 and i have a 36DD and a 36C, i went to see my Doctor and she said the other one will grow, but its been about a year and the 36DD is still growing and nearly and E! but my other breast is still a C! this is ruining my life! HELP!!

i have absolutely NO breasts.
infact,no jokes, one goes inwards.
i am now 14 and a bit and although i am small for my age, i dont know if this is normal.
i do get very selfconsious about it and now wear a non-wired padded bra to give ff the effect that i have boobs.
i do wet very upset when someone mentions it and recently split up with my boy friend because he mentioned it.
i am really upset and worried.
i can not understand it.

hey, im a 13 year old girl and i have asymmetrical breast. is there anyway to change that because i am now having sex because my boyfriend want us to and i don't like taking of my bra fully so is there anyway that i can change this and does this mean my breast will be assymentrical as an adult??

im 14 and my breasts are 32a and 38a it has really affected my life as i am really insucure around people thinking they will notice and i was wondering how i can make it look the same as i am tired of feelin depressed?
