I think I may have Folliculitis.
I am 15 and I started off having bite looking spots on my legs. I went to the doctors and she gave me some antibiotics and said it was ingrowing hairs
I took them but the've come back and now the skin around it is very red and hard and dry, is it serious?

I have the same problem, everytime I shave I end up in agony with rashes, ingrowing hairs and boils and I am very hairy (everywhere even my bottom) which makes it so much worse. Unfortunately this started at puberty abbout 7 years ago and I have never found a complete cure other than dealing with it the best I can. The docotr recommended alergy tablets but they are quite useless. My tips are to use a mans electric razor on your legs(one of those ones with three rotating heads) that is mains powered or you'll be on forever. Put lots of moisturizer on your areas everyday regardless of shaving. Aloe vera ones are good, some aftersuns work the best, like bannana boats. St.tropez moisturizer is also good. These are not miricles but they might help.

please could you help me to help my daughter she was told she has folliclites but she has it on her breasts back legs now starting on her face on top of her arms just about everywhere she is getting so deprssed i dont know what else to do. she has had many antibiotics creams shower washed she even was in hospital they bandaged her legs for a week then changed them for week after week. now she is starting to worry me she is dressing in big jumpers to hide herself .. they say now she needs more depressents please can you help her my name is Teresa

I have the same problem around my bikini line and to put it mildly it is quite an extensive area and spreads down my inner thighs where I appear to have the most problems. My GP was useless and said it may be a form of ezcema, but wasnt sure and prescribed hydrocortizone cream which didnt help at all . I have actually seen a private clinic had a course of 6 laser hair removal treatments but even that hasnt worked and Im gutted!! Any more suggestions?

I suffered quite badly with folliculitis on my legs and arms from shaving. Using hair removal creams didn't help. I found an Australian cosmeceutical by "Skin Doctors" called "Ingrow Go". You can buy it at some pharmacies and John Lewis. It's FANTASTIC and it actually got rid of my folliculitis!!! I haven't any more problems and only used it a few times.

please please help me! im desperate! i am extremly depressed & down over my problem & my gp tells me to just deal with it, i cant live like this anymore! since i was about 16 i suffered from ingrown hairs everywhere! my legs from top to bottom my underarms, my bikini area & around my nipples its so irritating it itches & becomes sore, its ruining my life! i dont like being intimate with anyone, its completly knocked my confidence. i love to swim & icant go, icant go abroad its unbearable in the summer, when i sweat it itches!i get so angry & moody! i cant ever wear skirts or sleeveless tops. ive tried shaving, exfoliating, waxing, epilating, hair removal creams, ingrown hair solutions nothing works. if i just leave my hair to grow, alot of it goes but i dont feel feminine with long hair everywhere its embarrasing! when i remove hair, as soon as the hairs start growing back pratically every single hair grows under my skin & i get several white heads all over, especially on my bikini area & under arms, i actually get big lumps, that have really really long curly hairs trapped in them & the hairs arent even attached to my skin. i used to love the summer nice hot sunshine but i cant bare another summer like this please help, ive put up with this for 8 years now, iwant to be my normal self again, iwant to be happy & be able to wear skirts, i used to be so girlee, i just wanna be me again

This sounds alot like I suffer with on my bikini line. They start off like boils and are very sore. Eventually the puss comes out and then its a case of getting the ingrown hair out. Ive been to my dr also and they sey there is nothing that can be done. My most recent incedent I had to attend A&E to have it drained as it was so swollen and infected.

I have been suffering with an intense itchy pubic area for a few months now, there are no spots or identifiable causes etc to this just itching. It started in a small area but has now spread. I have been to see a gp who prescribed me with daktacort, but it doesn't seem to help, could it be be folliculitis? and what can i do now to cure this condition as it is really frustrating me now?.

I have also had Folliculitis on my public area, upper arms and on my bum cheeks for a few years now.

I suffer from ingrowing hairs on my public area but nowhere else, i dont shave, wax or pluck my hairs yet i still get them and the infections of the hair follicals.

The Folliculitis on my bum cheeks bothers me most, having had them for several years and being given one antibiotic cream after another finding they clear and as soon as i stop taking them they return.

I went to the dermotogolist and they perscibed a cream to be used continually and a shower cream however these have the same affect and are very harsh and make my skin peal.

I also have the start of Folliculitis on my face, the demotologist pointed this out and said that i had a very mild form of acne on my face due to the Folliculitis, he proscibed the same cream as for my bum but it just made my skin really dry and made it peal…i still suffer from the spots.

Any help would be much appriciated.

Is there any other treatment for both my pubic area and bum cheeks which you could recommend?

tell me about it, i have this on my bikini area and its so bad and scarred, went to the doctor today and said there was no solution, there must be! ive tried the creams, lotions and exfoliating, none of it works!
