Consultation: Haemorrhoids

Around one third of us will develop haemorrhoids (or piles as they are more commonly called). Dr Christian Jessen diagnoses one particularly bad case from series one of Embarrassing Illnesses, and refers his patient for surgery to remove the offending items.

I have 2 children and have has piles since my last child now nearly 2 years old. U can't see the piles so think they must be inside but I often get itchy anus (especially at night time) and I sometimes get bleeding. I have told my GP and they did nothing about it, didn't even examine me! I have been drinking fybogel drink once a day and I eat plenty of fruit and veg which keeps me regular but I still have discomfort. Can anyone help?

I have heard that the surgery for the removal of piles is way more MORE painful than the actual hemorrhoids! Let me tell you, I've given birth twice (I got hemorrhoids in last trimester of both pregnancies) and the pain from hemorrhoids is much more intense than labor pain! (at least for me) and so if someone tells me that surgery is more painful than hemorrhoids, I have to pass. My husband is very understanding. Only now I am embarrassed. I used to allow him to touch me back there but not anymore, too embarrassing even if he says I shouldn't worry. I would love for their to be a surgery/procedure that would not involve so much pain. Is there one?

About 4years ago my boyfriend accidently "fingered" my anus and after I never had any problems?but 3yrs ago when i go to toilet it is so painful and has a very very sharpe feeling, plus the amount of blood that comes from that area you would think I was on a period!! Plus at times my anus can get itchy? I had a look and have a lump outside my anus hole just like that mans on Thursday night but not as big or as rashy looking! But when watching how you fix his problem has put me off even more from getting it looked at!! Is ther any other option and Is it piles?

It probably isn't cancer but I'd get it checked out. I'd argue though that you probably have only had a tear inside the anus which usually clears it self up within 6 weeks. I'd try to increase your fibre intake and try not to get constipated.

As per this video, my piles are not servere as his but it is begining to cause discomfort and would like to sort it out, and even writting this makes me sweat and more than seriously embarrassed, I want to cry. Could you let me know what should I do?
