Consultation: Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation, like any other skin condition, can lower the sufferer’s self confidence. Dr Pixie McKenna talks to a patient whose social life has been placed on hold because of this Embarrassing Illness, and recommends a course of laser treatment and lotion to enable her to stay out clubbing with her mates all night long…

I have noticed that over the past year or so my skin has become extremely darker than the rest of my body. I have been often asked if I have been abroad in the hot sun. I was diagnosed with Melasma by my dermatologist and had test for allegies to creams carried out. It proved successful in the sense that I discovered that I was allegic to a number of the products I was using and have since stopped using them. However my facial condition does not seem to improve and I wonder now what other avenue to venture down for a cure as I am totally two-toned.

I have hyper pigmentation on my face, this started 7yrs ago after the birth of my daughter. It has got better, it was really bad, but I still have it and will not wear no make up. It is depressing me & I have spent lots of money trying creams that don't work. Has anyone used anything that actually does work. Please help as I can't stand this any longer, my confidence has taken a big knock from this. I am getting desperate.

I recently just watched Embarrassing Bodies episode and it showed a man with the hyperpigmentation problem on his face is very similar to what I am suffering from. I would really like to know what cream was given to him and whether I am able to get this cream and how. My condition is very bad and concerning as it is affecting my self esteem. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
