I tried to get a tummy tuck on the NHS to remove excess skin i have on my upper and lower abdomen, which i lost after being obese and maintaining a healthy lifestyle now am a healthy weight. I went to my GP who thought i had a good case, but the NHS doesn't cover it unless your local PCT agrees to fund it (PCT- Primary care trust) The only way you can get this surgery on the NHS without your pct is if you've had a hernia. Stupid. So my pct wont cover it. Does anyone know a PCT that will? I've finished uni and cant afford it myself. I hate being 23 and having a body of someone who's had children. I find it annoying that if i were obese the NHS would sort it out for me but because im healthy they won't its rediculous. My partner is a Personal trainer too. And i go to the gym at least 3 times a week i can do hundreds of crunches in one go but unfortunalty ive got to a stage where theres nothing i can do myself.

Hi, I have a similar issue to most of these comments, I am 21 and had a little boy back in 2008, during my pregnancy I gained nearly 3st and just got so big it was un-real! I had a very hard time in labour but then after I was in a very un happy relationship with violence and stress, and lost it all way to quick. Even though it has been nearly 2 years, I have tried creams, working out, and you name it etc.... but my stomach and lower abdom, is just so stretched it is worse than my 85year old grandmothers! being 21 and with a little boy i want to take him swimming and wear things on holiday like most people my age, but I can't and if I take him swimming and see people I think are looking at me I will get my sister to take him in the pool. Also in my current relationship during sex, I always want the light off and get contious of my partner seeing it. I really would like to know on how the NHS can help me as I dont have the finance to go private, although it would be the first thing on my list if i did! The excess sagging skin is also on my thighs. Please get back to me Thanks xx

Hello, I just turned 21 years old a few days ago and I just wanted to tell my story. I have been a big kid most of my life. Steadily gaining weight untill I hit about 330-350 lbs. When I was 19 I decided enough was enough. I changed my diet and started doing cardio everyday untill I lost about 70 lbs. I then picked up weight training and started bodybuilding. I am now around 230 lbs, 6"1 with a big bone structure, and even though I have put on quite a bit of muscle I am still left without alot of loose skin. I eat healthy and workout everyday sometimes twice a day. I have worked so hard and completely changed my lifestyle around with no help from anyone. I did all my own research and made it all happen alone and now im stuck with a body I will never be happy with no matter how hard I work. If there is anyway anyone can help me I would be in debt to you for life! God bless everyone

Hi I'm 20 years old and male the reason for the this comment is I gained a lot of weight at the age of 18 mostly cause of my height today i'm approx 6ft4 but within 6 months i lost 5 stone through stress which is quite scary because its an unhealthy way of losing weight. Today i'm about 15 stone but i have a lot of issues mostly with the front of my body. I have done many things to try and remove the embarrassing left over skin and today i've got to the point where i would do anything to make me feel more confident about myself. If anyone can help that would be very much appreciated Thank You

Hi, I'm 45, over the past 2 years i have lost 7.5 stone. I now have too much skin around my tummy. Will the NHS help me with the cost of a tummy tuck? I have done the hard work the doctors tell you to do to improve you health, with out any help so far surely they could help with this last bit!

22 months ago I gave birth to a 9lbs 10oz baby. I also had too muc amniotic fluid and, as such, was huge. I now have a very saggy tummy which is creased and uneven. I also have no feeling around my belly button. I find it hugely disfiguring and has shattered my confidence. Is surgery the only option????
