Around 95% of us suffer from halitosis (or bad breath) at some time in our lives, and one in four adults suffer from it on a regular basis. In this exclusive guide, Dr McKenna demonstrates a simple technique to check for bad breath, and advises on ways we can ultimately prevent the ‘death breath’. She also reminds us that around 90% of bad breath cases are due to poor oral hygiene, so a visit to the dental hygienist at least once a year wouldn’t hurt. Well, it might do…but would you rather have bad breath?

im 52 and suffer 4 all my life. im a nervous wreck, i've also lost most of my hair because of it. i've tried everything, no luck. doctors and dentists dont take me serious. i've no friends and i cant keep a job. work mates treat me as though i got the plague. im really tired. too much of a coward to take my life. no one around me understands. i keep myself clean yet i see people who dont brush but dont smell.

I've been suffering from bad breath since i was 5, i am now 22. I've used all kinds of mouth wash and toothpastes but they havn't helped at all. However, two months ago by dentist suggessted Breath RX you can buy it from Boots. There is a whole range from mouth wash to tounge scrapers. I bought the 'anti bacterial tounge spray' as i was told by my G.P and dentist that the problem may be in my tounge. I noticed a difference strait away but after about 3 weeks i could sense by bad breath coming back again. Although by bad breath hasn't gone away compleatly i have noticed a slight improvement which is something at least. If anyone knows any useful tips and advice please post a message. Much appreciated.

I have been to doctors and dentist both have not helped. I go to dentist regularly , floss , and have good oral hygiene and no fillings or decay. I feel its caused either in my throat or stomach ? and is constant really bad its affecting my whole life my own research has left me wondering is it "tonsil stones" please reply if you can .

try acupuncture if sinus problems may be the root cause as often minor recurring problems are of small interest to GPs

It's really embarrasing, but the lick test does work.

What if it smells sweet? Is that bad or good?

:S

I have suffered from bad breath problems for some years. I am always brushing my teeth, using mouth wash, flossing.using mints, chewing gums but nothing has helped. I have not been able to form any relationship and social life is nil. I do suffer from sinus problems but no doctors have been able to help. They take this problem very lightly. It has ruined my life.

I use sugarfree gums all the time but they don't help that much, brush my teeth 3-4 times a day, floss and use mouthwash twice daily,go to the dentist twice yearly but they don't see any problem,I have been to my G.P,but refers me to the dentist,it's like going round the circle,I eat oven cooked food. The problem I think is in my stomach, because I was not given first water at birth, what can I do?

I always carry sugar-free gum with me and chew one as often as I think necessary

Glad to know I am not on my own with this one! Doctor suggested mouthwash…as if I never thought of that. Dentist no help either. No one helps. I quitting my jo over this, someone help me please?!

some doctors just think its neglect i wouldnt go to the doctor again about my bad breath too embarrassing when they smile as your telling him the worst thing hoping that there is something anything that could help i left feeling like an idiot just told to go to boots they had tablets didn t know the name or if they even did them anymore
