Our bodies lose one litre of sweat every day. However, sufferers of hyperhidrosis (or excessive sweating) can lose 4-5 times this amount. In this exclusive guide, Dr McKenna advises on various self-help methods to tackle this condition and explains the treatment options available for sufferers. And remember, it’s not the sweat that smells – it’s the dried sweat in your clothes!

I have the same problem as some of these comments. I sweat a lot, hot or cold, more when hot. It really has effected my teenage years as I am to scared to talk about it to anyone even my friends. It stops me from doing certain things: going out with friends for long periods of time and if I do, I try and wear lots of layers of clothing to try and cover over the smell. I feel distant from friends as if they don't want to spend any time with me, and harsh comments from people really do get me down.

im a 14 year old girl and ive been suffering from what i think is hydrahydrosis for over a year. my palms are constantly sweaty and its really embarrasing when i have to shake peoples hands and stuff – its actually ruinin my life. its not so bad under the armpits but at school i always have sweat patches. i havent told anyone , not even my parents because im so embarrased even though i know they would help me, i really dont know what to do but can sumone please give me some advice coz its wrecking my life.

I'm 14 and my sweating is not as bad as other, but I am still trying to find a anti-persperant that will work for me, as i just sweat through them. Also, what can you do with sweating on your back? I hate it, when ever I exercise at school, i'm the only one who suffers from it.

I dont sweat badly under my arms but really badly on my hands adn people find it quite noticeable. Its not also when it is hot is there anything to stop it or control it?

Im 15 And Have Started Sweating Loads, I Always Have To Wear A Jacket Even In The Summer Because Ive Got Bad Sweat Marks,
Ive Tried Different Deordants But They Dont Help, And I Dont Wear That Many Tight Clothes, I Also Bath EveryNight
What Should I Do

i sweat under my arms really bad. I went to the doctors about it and he said it was inbalance hormones so he put me on the pill, but i still sweat. My face gets sweaty and oily too. Could they be connected?

I've had this problem since being in year 8. I have it under my arms, i found it so embarrassing i couldnt tell anyone untill my mum noticed a year later. Im now 17 and it took me till 5 months ago to visit the doctor who gave me Dryclor, i apply it at night before bed then shower normally in the morning. It irretates lots, but at first i was happy it was working for me. Untill the irretation became horrible and my body just decided not to react to it. So now im back to square one.
