Quick Health Advice: Unwanted Facial Hair

Women who suffer from excessive facial hair (or hirsuitism) can feel extremely self-conscious, but the condition is not uncommon and affects up to 15% of women. In this exclusive guide, Dr Harper discusses the symptoms and causes of this condition, as well as the best treatment options available. Excessive facial hair can be embarrassing, but there are plenty of ways to remove it, either temporarily or on a more permanent basis.

If you’re suffering from any of the conditions featured on this site and want to apply for an onscreen consultation with one of the EB team then you can find more details here >>

hi, i'm 24 and have got a bit vein about my moustache. I also have a mole in this area where darker hair generally grows around and out of. For several years I have been plucking the hair from this area and it has got really really thick now. I bleach it too but it still stands out and is stubbly. I am really conscious of it because my brother always points it out to me. I regret becoming so self aware and tweezing because it wasn't even a problem in the beginning. Do epilators work?

I have found that using an epilator helps a lot, i bought a travel epilator for around £10 and use it on my chin and upper lip, it does hurt quite a bit the first few times but you get used to it and the hair grows back a bit thinner. also it doesnt itch like shaving,
